In this blog post, I’ll share how I earned $30 in just a few minutes by completing a simple Shopify customization order on Fiverr.
Step 1: Receiving the Fiverr Order
While recording a Shopify tutorial for my YouTube channel, I received a Fiverr order. The customer wanted to display different banner images on the desktop and mobile versions of their Shopify store. Since this is a quick customization, I decided to show the entire process live.
The order details:
- Task: Show different banners on desktop and mobile
- Earnings: $30 (Fiverr takes 20%, so I received $24)
- Time Required: A few minutes
Step 2: Understanding the Client’s Requirements
The client reached out asking for help with optimizing their mobile banner. They wanted a different image for mobile users while keeping a separate image for desktop users. The client also provided the images they wanted to use.
Step 3: Inspecting the Shopify Store
To make the changes, I first inspected the store using the browser’s developer tools:
- Opened the store in Google Chrome.
- Right-clicked on the banner and selected Inspect Element.
- Found the class name assigned to the banner.
- Took note of the class to apply custom CSS.
Step 4: Adding the New Mobile Banner in Shopify
- Open Shopify Admin and go to Online Store > Themes.
- Click Customize on the active theme.
- Locate the banner section in the theme editor.
- Duplicate the banner so there are two slides: one for desktop and one for mobile.
- Replace the image in the duplicated section with the mobile-specific banner.
Step 5: Testing the Changes
- On Desktop: The desktop banner was visible, and the mobile banner was hidden.
- On Mobile: The mobile banner appeared, and the desktop version disappeared.
Step 6: Delivering the Order on Fiverr
- Took screenshots of the final result.
- Explained what was done in the delivery message.
- Submitted the order for review.
- The client approved the order and left a 5-star review: “Bilal is an exceptional professional! He optimized my website banner perfectly and went above and beyond.”
