Think of Pinterest not just as a social media app, but as a massive, visual search engine. Users are actively searching for ideas, inspiration, and—most importantly—products to buy. By sharing your products there, you’re putting them directly in front of a highly engaged audience.
The best part? Connecting your store is easier than you think. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you how to automatically publish your products to Pinterest using a powerful (and free to start) app.
Why Bother with Pinterest?
- Massive Reach: Tap into Pinterest’s huge, active user base.
- SEO Boost: Google and other search engines now pull data from social media platforms. A strong Pinterest presence can positively impact your overall online visibility.
- Drive Sales: Every Pin is a direct link back to your product page, turning inspiration into revenue.
Ready to get started? Let’s dive in.
Step 1: Install the PinAuto Pinterest Publisher App
We’ll be using the PinAuto Pinterest Publisher app for this tutorial. It’s user-friendly and automates the entire process.
- Go to the Shopify App Store and search for “PinAuto Pinterest Publisher,” or use the direct link (which you can find in the description of our video tutorial).
- Click “Add app” and then “Install app” to add it to your store.
Step 2: Connect Your Pinterest Account
Once the app is installed, you’ll land on its dashboard. The first crucial step is to connect your Pinterest business account.
- Click the “Connect Pinterest” button.
- A pop-up window will appear. Make sure you are already logged into your Pinterest account.
- The app will request permission to “create, update, or delete your public Pins.” This is necessary for it to function. Click “Give access” to authorize the connection.
Congratulations! Your Shopify store is now officially linked to Pinterest.
Step 3: Pinning Your First Product
Now for the fun part—publishing your products! Let’s start with a single item.
- In the app’s dashboard, navigate to the “Products” section. You’ll see a list of all your store’s products.
- Click on the product you want to pin.
- Click “Proceed.” You’ll now see the pinning options:
- Description: The app will pull your product’s description automatically.
- Regenerate Description via AI: You can use this feature to create a fresh, engaging caption with one click.
- Number of Images: Select how many product images you want to include in the Pin (e.g., 2).
- Board: Choose which Pinterest board to save the Pin to. You can select an existing board or create a new one from here. For this example, we’ll use the “Default” board.
- Once you’re happy with the settings, click “Apply.”
- Finally, click “Add to Queue.” The Pin is now scheduled to be published!
Step 4: Pinning an Entire Collection
Want to pin multiple products at once? The app makes it just as easy.
- Go to the “Collections” tab within the app.
- Click “Add” and select the collection you want to pin.
- Click “Proceed.”
- You can now configure the settings for all products in this collection—like selecting 2 images per product and choosing a board (e.g., “Female Fashion”).
- Click “Apply” and then “Add to Queue.”
You can view all your scheduled and published Pins in the “Pins” and “Queue” tabs. The app will automatically publish queued Pins based on your daily schedule.
Step 5: Set Up Automatic Publishing (The Best Feature!)
The real power of this app is automation. You can set it to automatically share every new product you add to your store.
- Go to the “Settings” tab.
- Find the “Auto Publish” section.
- Simply toggle the switch “On.”
- Pro Tip: Also enable “Generate AI Captions for Auto Publish” to automatically create engaging descriptions for every new product.
- Don’t forget to click “Save.”
That’s it! Now, your marketing will run on autopilot, and every new product will be shared with your Pinterest audience.
A Quick Pro Tip for Better Pins
Image Ratio is Key! If you choose to post multiple images for a single product, ensure all your product photos have a consistent, Pinterest-friendly ratio (like 2:3). This ensures your Pins look professional and display correctly on the platform.
Conclusion
By connecting your Shopify store to Pinterest, you’re opening up a brand-new, free channel for traffic and sales. It takes less than 10 minutes to set up and can deliver long-term results.
